FES 20-Year Journey: From China’s Piling Industry to a Global Foundation Construction Partner
FES 20-Year Journey: From China’s Piling Industry to a Global Foundation Construction Partner

1. In the 1990s: A Seed Is Planted
In 1998, Robin Mao, founder of FES, began his career in the Chinese piling industry as Sales Director of IMT rotary drill rigs. Within three years, he had helped introduce dozens of rigs into China, but what he gained was more valuable than sales numbers—he gained insight into the real struggles of drilling contractors.
Standing on countless job sites, Robin noticed the same problems repeated:
- Tools that wore out too quickly
- Imported parts that were overpriced and slow to arrive
- Contractors forced to search across multiple suppliers for simple replacements
He realized the industry wasn’t short of equipment—it was short of a reliable partner.
That realization became the foundation of FES.
In 2005, driven by a belief that foundation contractors deserved better solutions, Robin established FES China Limited.
The first FES products entered domestic projects soon after. On a major municipal job, FES supplied a full suite of drilling tools and accessories—including drilling buckets, augers, and FES piling casing systems—that reduced downtime, improved efficiency, and proved the value of a centralized, reliable supplier.
For the first time, contractors felt what it meant to have someone standing behind them—not just selling, but supporting.
2. Stepping Into the World: The Beginning of Global Expansion (2005–2013)
North America: The First Leap (2005)
Entering North America in 2005 was a bold and uncertain move.
New standards, unfamiliar regulations, long-distance logistics, and the challenge of building trust in a new market—FES had to learn everything from zero.
But one thing translated across cultures: quality.
Little by little, contractors in the United States and Canada discovered that FES tools performed well, lasted long, and came with responsive support.
One successful order led to another, forming the first chain of long-term overseas partnerships.
Australia, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region (2008–2013)
From 2008, FES expanded to some of the world’s most demanding engineering markets.
Australia’s abrasive soil, New Zealand’s strict standards, Germany’s precision engineering culture—these markets pushed FES to refine, redesign, and elevate its tools.
In an Australian port project, for example, contractors faced unpredictable geological layers that had damaged tools from other suppliers. FES stepped in with a customized tool set designed for the site conditions—helping the contractor complete the project on time and earning strong recognition.

Growing Through Global Exhibitions
As the brand gained momentum, FES presented its solutions at key global exhibitions, including:
- CONEXPO 2011, 2014, 2017, 2023
- IFCEE 2023
- Bauma Shanghai 2024
- Bauma 2025
- ADSC 2012, 2015, 2017, 2024
These appearances marked not just participation, but confidence—FES was ready to stand on the world stage.

3. Partnerships with Leading Company in the Foundation Drilling Equipment Industry
Strategic collaboration became another driver of FES’s growth.
In 2016, FES formed a partnership with XCMG, the world’s largest manufacturer of rotary drilling rigs.
Through these alliances, FES exchanged technology, co-developed solutions, and helped contractors overcome engineering challenges across different continents.
Innovation Milestone: The World’s First Hydraulic DTH Rotary Hammer (2020–2021)
In 2020, FES embarked on an ambitious engineering project—to develop the world’s first hydraulic DTH rotary hammer.
The R&D team worked through long nights, countless failures, and technical obstacles that many believed unsolvable.
Then, in 2021, the prototype was delivered.
A small moment on the calendar, but a giant leap for the industry.
It represented not only innovation, but the persistence that defines FES.
4. Global Layout: Bringing Service Closer to Customers (2023–2024)
North America Branch (2023)
Saudi Arabia Branch (2024)
Setting up overseas branches was never simply about “having an office.”
It was about standing closer to customers—physically, culturally, and professionally.
In North America and Saudi Arabia, FES engineers walked into job sites under scorching sun, heavy snow, and unfamiliar conditions.
They learned local engineering codes, adapted tools for different soils, and stayed until every rig was running smoothly.
The sales teams faced their own challenges—new communication styles, varied procurement processes, and local expectations for service.
Every answered email, every resolved logistics issue, every successful delivery… these small moments formed the backbone of trust.
The first orders from the overseas branches were celebrated like milestones.
Not because of revenue, but because they proved one thing:
FES could serve customers—anywhere in the world—with the same commitment as at home.

5. Culture and Vision: What FES Stands For
Through every chapter of its 20-year journey, FES has carried a simple but powerful vision:
To become a global provider of professional drilling tools, accessories, consumables, and piling equipment for the engineering construction industry.
This vision is built on three commitments:
- To customers — deliver reliable products, fast support, and real solutions
- To partners — grow together with transparency and trust
- To employees — create opportunities, challenges, and a sense of purpose
FES understands that every country has different needs.
Every project has its own challenges.
But the core remains the same: the foundation must be strong.
And for 20 years, FES has been there—helping build those foundations, one tool, one solution, one partnership at a time.
